Do What You Love and Love What You Do – The Truth!

Do What You Love and Love What You do

Forget Your Business or Job! Are You Doing What You Love and Loving What You Do?

Before you answer that, you must first decide if this whole concept of “do what you love and love what you do” just a myth, or a truth that you really need to consider?

I'm going to help you answer that question but first, answer this.

Do you really want a life of greater success and fulfilment?

Many people mistakenly believe that “achievement will bring them fulfilment”.  If that were true then every millionaire, billionaire, or every super achiever on this planet would be happy and fulfilled.

But that’s not the case is it?

There are many business owners and individuals that are successfully “achieving”, but feel miserable and empty. There are even more people who are just “surviving” rather than really “living”.

I’m about to share an important story with you. I’m not going to tell you that you’ll connect with it, nor that you’ll find it relevant to your life too, no matter how young or “not young” you are now, because only you can decide that for yourself.

But, if what you truly desire is a life of greater success and fulfilment, joy and abundance in anything you do, it’s important that from this story, you really consider “the key question” I’m asking and measure where you currently are in your own life.

So here goes…

How I Came To Realize It's Important To Do What You Love and Love What You Do

Back in the day, I began my career as an airline pilot at the young age of 19. Doing that, cruising around the world, was very fulfilling and exciting for the first few years – it met all my needs.

But, after about the 5th year, something began to shift inside of me. Something was moving and calling out to me to pay attention. I didn’t fully understand what it was but, what I did know was, I was slowly beginning to lose the drive to go to work.

Even though that job and role offered tons of variety, adventure, opportunity, connection, benefits and growing income, I was beginning to feel more and more unfulfilled with each passing day.

As the months went by, it became clear I had to do something different, I had to make a change somehow or, I would risk selling my soul to a life of simply “trading time for money”.

Have you ever been there before?

Or, are you currently doing exactly that – feeling like you’re trading time for money, day in and day out?

Does life feel like a repetitive cycle of the same thing day after day, week after week, month after month, separated by mini doses of relief (distractions)?

Are you finding yourself waiting for the workweek to end, so that you can immerse yourself in the distraction of your choice during the weekend?

Has anyone ever proposed to you that it's important to do what you love and love what you do?

Because here’s the thing.

It doesn’t matter if you’re currently in a job or in business. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the “ideation phase” of starting a business, just begun your business, or if you’re well established in your business.

What really matters is… “Are you doing what you love, and loving what you do?”

Over the last 15 years or so, that’s what I’ve come to realize is one of the most important keys to living a fulfilling  and successful life i.e. a life where you feel really “filled up”.

In that time, I’ve gone from being “just” an airline pilot, to immersing myself in a vast variety of things, all in the name of discovering what truly fits me, and what I would love greatly enough, to wake up to every single day to, while feeling excited to begin taking action on.

I’m grateful to have established myself in a passion that meets all my needs, “fills me up”, and inspires me to do better and better every single day.

What is it?

Peak Performance Results Coaching

Over the last 10 years or so, having worked one-on-one with more than a thousand individuals and business leaders in more than 15 countries, helping them create the successful and fulfilling lives they desire, do you know what was the single “biggest problem” almost every one of them had?

They either had lost sight of why they were “slogging” their way through their job or business, or, they were never clear about what it was all for in the first place.

They had all gotten to a point in their career or business where they were not doing what they loved, and didn’t love what they did.

As a result, almost every single one of them showed up to coaching with me, feeling drained, “caught up”, overwhelmed, unfulfilled or unhappy in more ways than one.

It didn’t matter if it was the person who was making $75,000/year, or the business owners who were raking in up to $30 million/year. The bottom line was, they were feeling flat and drained, instead of feeling alive and “full-filled” (or filled up).

There’s a saying you know, “You can be a multi-millionaire, but be emotionally bankrupt”.

It's Not Your Fault

If you realize now that you're in the same boat, it's not your fault.

No one taught you how to do what you love and love what you, while being able to earn a living for yourself.

In fact, most people have bought into either one of these beliefs:

a) It's important to have a good education and then go onto having a successful career or business (while disregarding “do what you love and love what you do”) or,

b) Do what you love and the money will follow (while seemingly disregarding the realities of making money to sustain life).

Do What You Love and Love What You do

Instead of buying into either one of those beliefs, I invite you to reevaluate and reconsider how successful you are in your job or business, or in your life, from the perspective of how fulfilled and happy you actually are doing what you're doing.

How Fulfilling Is Your Life?

“What you don't track and measure, you can't improve.”

So, where are you right now in terms of living a really fulfilling life?

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being outstanding), how filled up are you by your career or business? How much do you love it? How much do you love what you’re doing?

Because here’s the truth about it, how much you love what you, how fulfilled and happy you are doing what you do, affects how you do it.

How you do it, determines how effective and influential you are.

How effective and influential you are, determines how successful you are.

That’s the first key and truth you must accept right now, that is of course if, you want to be truly successful.

Therefore, if you’re not doing what you love and loving what you do right now, then perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate and change your approach, don’t you think?
